The Halo laser treats a variety of skin conditions while offering a faster recovery time.

CHICAGO, IL—For patients looking for facial rejuvenation without the downtime, Sciton has created the Halo Hybrid Fractional Laser. This revolutionary new aesthetic procedure is now being offered by Chicago ophthalmologist, Dr. Mary Szatowskto treat common skin conditions.

The Halo laser improves the condition of wrinkles, pores, sun damage, age spots, uneven skin tone, and acne scars through the use of both non-ablative and ablative wavelengths. Ablative wavelengths are often used in aesthetic treatments such as dermabrasion and chemical peels, and are known for their effectiveness in reducing the signs of aging. Ablative treatments work by wounding the dermal level of the skin to remove the damaged regions, resulting in the stimulation of collagen production. Through this collagen production and restructuring, the skin appears more firm and tight. The one disadvantage these treatments have had in the past is the extensive recovery period, which often takes a couple weeks.

However, non-ablative treatments offer virtually no downtime. This procedure warms the top layers of the skin but doesn’t remove them like ablative lasers do. While this option can be effective over time, multiple treatments are often necessary before the patient sees optimal results.

The Halo Hybrid Fractional Laser promises the best of both treatments, acting on the deeper layer of the skin while leaving the surface alone. Simply, this laser treatment offers the results of ablative therapy with the recovery period of a non-ablative treatment.

The Halo laser treatment only takes about 30-45 minutes, with the whole process taking a little over two hours. Before treatment, a numbing cream will be applied to the face to eliminate any discomfort. Then the laser will be directed on the face to reduce wrinkles, improve skin tone and remove sun damage. This technology even measures the temperature of the patient’s skin during the procedure and will adjust the temperature accordingly to offer an even treatment.
